Been using synthetic for over 25 years. Amsoil for the last 15 or so?

Can't say enough (good) about that stuff.

Change my oil in my cars once a year, unless I put in over 20,000 miles.

I could go on & on but it won't do any good for dem'dere old dogs out there.:bash2:

I use Texaco Havoline 10w-30 with deposite sheild in my 123 and F-250 truck. never had any oil use problems with it. It hardly gets below zero here in TN so i use it year round without any cold start issues.

as far as keeping the engine warm, i use a 250w chicken coop light and i bent the aluminum shroud around it to fit between the grader blade mounts and it points directly to the oil pan. After each use i put it under the tractor and when they call for snow i plug it up 2-3 hrs before i use it and it works great. Im still using the 30w oil that i put in it this summer, no problems.

Hi,
I have a 1250 with the QA42A, so it is going to be running ever winter on some of the coldest days. I already changed the oil to 5w-30, I just took apart the starter and cleaned it (mostly because in the cold it would make a screech sound sometimes) and changed all the gas in the engine. Is there anything else that should be done?
Also, what is the best way to warm up these old Kohlers and hydros when its really cold before using them.
Thank you

on my 1650 I used a glue on oil pan heater made for a semi and a battery trickle charger. I leave the charger plugged in all the time to keep the battery charged and warm. When I want to move snow I will pug in the pan heater for a half hour and she fires right up like it is 80 degrees out. Forgot to mention I am running sae 30 w
