Hello, me three. Our fair even had seats on both sides of the track so the people could rest. Must have been mid to late 60's, early 70's. Loved the early modifieds, when a local farm boy could put a 427 in a Oliver and beat the people who had been at it a while. Multi eng. tank motors, allisons, what a sound.Mike:biggrin2:

I believe hes talking about an allison aircraft engine....ive seen them on mods too....16cyl i think?? Not sure...yes, quite a sound...

same company that makes Allison trannys made the Allison V12 and W24 aircraft engines during war years. W24 was pretty rare

Originally Jim Allison was one of the founders of the Indy Speedway and into racing. Around the late 1920s GM purchased Allison after the founder died because of its engineering staff. shortly after that they came up with the Allison V12. so I guess it could be considered GM
