Thanks DX3
Will go with new springs and end caps for sure. Got the brake pads in the Electrolysis tank now, when they come out It'll be time to reline them. Then paint on the rearend. Banging away at it a little at a time.

David,
Your very welcome for the inspiration. Just like you, others on this site inspired me, and gave me the information to tackle some restoration work. It has been very satisfying, fun, a lot of work, a lot of learning, and sharing of tips and tricks.! If the power of the folks on this forum could be harnessed all the cubs would be saved and restored!:biggrin2: Please pass on the inspiration to the next guy! Regards, Chris |
small update:
The new brake linings are ordered and on the way from Mcmaster-Carr. I welded the wear grooves in the front driveshaft coupling today, man was that a pain to get filed back to original. The flat part of the slot was easy, but the hole the driveshaft slides into took awhile to get right. Good as new now and I didn't have to spend 50.00 bucks on a new one from "Evilpay". Got some more small parts in primer and a new batch in the electrolysis tank. Didn't think to get any pics today....I know,I know :bash::OhOh:
On another note, I also have on the way to me all the parts to convert to hydraulic lift on my 109 :beerchug: |
You are gonna love that hydraulic lift!

Coming along nicely.
Your having fun with the rest of us, good:beerchug: |

I just don't understand how the brakes wear out on a hydro tractor. There is just about nothing left of the pads on my 149 either. I didn't replace them, but adjusted them. I only need the brakes to hold the tractor, not stop it. Am I crazy? Am I missing something?
