i installed the new K241AS Kohler into my 122. it felt as though it had very little compression. i winged it over with the key to see if she would fire....no spark. i dug into it a bit deeper. found the points were stuck. so, i installed the points off of the K301AS i took out of the unit. we got spark! but...still wouldn't start. and the compression was still a big issue. we took off the head and low and behold. stuck exhaust valve. we got it moving and working again. while we were under the head, we took some sanding stones and smoothed out the deck of the engine as much as possible. as well as the head. cleaned all the carbon off the head. there was a little scoring on the cylinder walls but non were deep. we installed a new head gasket, put the 12hp tank cradle and tank on, winged it over again and got a pop and it started and died within a second. carb was messed up. so, i took the carburetor off of the K301AS and installed it on the K241AS. well, it fired right up and purrs like a KITTEN! had it running for a while then something in the clutch flew apart......:bash2::bash2: oh well. i got a few spare clutches. also split the tractor to fix the seal in the creeper gear since it would drool some HyTran. thats all fixed now. gonna connect the tractor back together sometime within the next week! can't wait to take it out for a spin with the new heart!

also, Last week i picked up a really cool IH Cab. its for a wide frame but i installed it on my 102 with custom mounts. i also put two flood lights on the front and installed the gumball light to the back. with custom switches.

today i picked up a cub cadet weight box for $20! gonna install that as well as a snow blade on the 102 and hopefully a creeper and ill be set to go!

Jay the snow is all gone. Its one of the nice things about NC winters. We might be getting hit with more snow this weekend. Maybe it'll last 4 days this time. hehe

I worked on the 1872/364 snowblower combination today. I think I have enough of the mounting brackets worked out that I can turn it on and make sure it works before I completely finish everything. I took the starter off and wanted to rebuild it, only to discover that it was a fairly new replacement starter, which to my surprise and disappointment, is NOT rebuildable, unlike the older replacement and original starters. The bendix is retained by a crimped sleeve instead of a nut, so it can't be removed to clean and lube the bendix. It also has a very exposed slip clutch that probably keeps the gear from getting destroyed. There is no way to relube the bendix worm without getting stuff on the slip clutch, so now it slips too easily, and the starter doesn't want to engage half the time.:angry: I guess I'll have to pull if off again and try a different starter if I can't get the lube worn off of the slip clutch.
