I'm jealous Steve. Got two machine ready for snow duty and not a flake in sight. |
power up and rotate
It's been some time since I've done anything to the 147. It has been assigned to snow throwing duties in which it has only been used twice. My neighbor keeps thanking me for warding off the snow with my readiness.
OK. Been brainstorming the electric lift situation and finally have my solution set in place and functioning. A YooLangDingDong linear actuator for lifting and a worm drive motor to rotate the chute. The actuator was modified for a 5" stroke as needed. Waiting on some plugs to finalize the electrical. I must admit that I miscalculated the speed of the motors. They are a bit on the slow side. Here is my meager attempt at film making. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgB6Vxg7Ztk pics here: https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...234#post492234 |
Nice installation on the snowthrower. I like the joy stick,

thx bugeye,
still looking for a joystick with a thumb switch that will allow operation for a sleeve hitch. |

Through a local CL ad, I found a guy that has lots of GT parts, including IH Cub Cadet parts. The steering knuckles on my 123 were boogered up and cobbled together by the PO and I have finally fixed it all. The front left knuckle finally snapped early last Spring. It must have been bent and "formed" in the past. The CL guy got me an entire front axle, tie rod, and drag link for $35! I replaced all but the axle itself. It's all back together and working like new again! It will be good to be able to use it the garden this coming season!
I have never had a sleeve hitch for this tractor.... always used it with the tiller. Got a hitch from this same guy for $125! Some day I will remove the tiller and see how the hitch does. |
Nice looking 123!

Early on when I first got the 123, I found out that the tiller was made nearby my hometown of Tulsa, in Claremore, OK. If I remember correctly, the shop owner was a relative of the Danhuser post hole digger people. They made an awesome tiller! |
right angle gear drive
2 Attachment(s)
The right angle gear drive was locked on the QA42a that came with the 125. I thought the worst. It turned out that one of the outboard bearings was the culprit. Dug around in my box of tricks and found a R12 to replace it.
Had the hardest time finding the double aught lube at the TSC. The female associate and I had a big laugh because I wanted "corn hole" grease. Love it when a plan comes together. |

Tire change for winter
1 Attachment(s)
I switched the turf tires from the 122 to the 100 because I got stuck a couple of times pushing snow with the ag tires. It took a couple of hours to make the change because of the weight of weights and the loaded tires. I tried the new tires out in the field and they did work great. As everyone knows by now turfs with chains are the way to go for snow.
|
There are those that would disagree, i'm not one of them though.
Turfs with weight & chains out performs ags with weight & chains. But we live in a wonderful place where one can do as one chooses. Now about that red green debate: Red means stop, Green means go. Yellow means don't eat the snow :biggrin2: |

My not to be forgotten 122 is getting some upgrades. I just got a QA42 snowthrower for it and it’s been sitting in my garage waiting for a new piston and rings. I finally got around to it. Here’s post reinstall of the engine. I did the 82 series axle swap also, along with rear wheels (which I have chains for) left over from a 682 part out.
Attachment 103364 Attachment 103365 Ignore the mess... it just means stuff is getting done. |
What a mess, but no snow in the forecast.
|
75 degrees here today... I'm going to think it out loud, I think I can remove the snow blade and thrower and put the mower decks on for spring.

Changed the oil on my 129...getting ready for the mowing season. Need to get an air filter yet. Otherwise, ready to go.
|
Changed oil on the 122.
Rebuilt the shock mounts on the voltage regulator. There was only one side of one of the rubber mounts still hanging on. I drilled out the rivets, found some heavy rubber mat, cut scraps , then pop riveted everything back together again for another 50 yrs of service. |

Changed the differential oil in the nasty old 122 today. The insides are much better looking than the outside. I was shocked.
I expected to see a rusty mud puddle inthere. |

Hello to yuns. If you don’t remember my back story I’ll refresh it. I lost my job here when GM shut the plant last year. I moved to southern Indiana to a plant there and was not AT ALL. happy living in an apartment there. But with an amount of luck I don’t typically have, I met the criteria for retirement by ONE day and have done just that and am living back at our home, (which we obviously kept while gone😏) in NE Ohio. The 1450 Super is no farther along than when I got the news about plant closing nearly 2 years ago. It runs, moves but there are some things that need buttoned up eventually. It however hauls my new trailer with much more authority than the 1641. Now that I’ve got the truck, car, trailer all buffed clay bared and waxed, I’ll just wait for the grass to grow some.
P.S. I apologize, I, like many, can’t get the pics correct whilst using my smarter than me phone. 🤷🏼*♂️ |
Lookin good ! glad you made the retirement cut :beerchug:

Lawn Prep
2 Attachment(s)
The old 72 getting some yard prep done! It always surprises me how stout that 7HP Kohler is. Pulled the aerator around the lawn then down the street to my friends house. Opened her up in 3rd on the way home. Lots of fun!
