the 108 is officially a 148 now. She runs and drives, Have to look at the PTO, It's making a lot of noise but works fine. I'm very happy with the engine. It has been sitting now for almost 2 years after its rebuild. I removed the grenade gears and was expecting it to shake some, but it is smooth as heck. a few more small things to do and she is ready to mow. will start getting parts to do the Hydraulics next

Hydraulic parts next... As in next week??! Yayyyyy
Congrats on your 148! Can you feel the power?? |
Few pix, fixed my pto noise, works great now. Engine runs perfect cant wait to try her with my 44" deck. Only other thing i need to do is lights, i could cut the panel and use the set i have for a 147, but i would rather sell them and buy the right ones. Not sure why i need the 148 but I might keep her still nor sure.

Looks good! It's probably something that IH should have built, a 148! :beerchug:

148
Very nice work on the grill and engine. IH definitely should have built a 148! I love it. The original paint looks great from here.
You and Rescue 11 do some awesome builds. Looking forward to the next one. Chris |
going to start rebuilding the deck this week. Once she is a mowing machine I'm thinking of selling her.
|
Deck is tore down, dosent look to bad , surface rust, and the bearings need to be cleaned and repacked, new seals, some wheels, and weld up the front guid. Definitely some sanding and paint. Not going to restore it just get it looking good and mowing for another 30 years.
|
Spindles are rebuilt and all the deck parts are ready, just waiting on a nice day to soada blast the deck so i can get her in to paint.
Took the 148 out for a test drive today, very happy. Drives and runs perfect. Might just have to keep it.:bigthink: |

Looking good Keith!!
Wish I could find a deck in that good shape in Illinois that isn't a day trip to get! :bash2: My 50" is shot and I need to find a replacement. I have a couple decent 44" decks.... but you know how it goes. You always want to have the biggest deck. :BlahBlah::biggrin2: |

The 148 tractor and deck are coming along nicely!:beerchug: |

Youre in southern IL right? Someone on CL had a decent looking 44" in Anna. $100 asking price. it would be a day trip for me for sure as I'm up north... if I had time it would be a good excuse to hit up my neighbor's fishing cottage down there. |

Jon, you should have known better LOL |
I blasted the deck today and was pleasantly surprised it is solid and in great condition, So it went from a quick clean up to breaking out the HVLP and mix some paint. It wont be original but I have some IH gloss white and a can of flat white primer and I think enough hardener, so looks like that's the color. white with black accent.
So when it's done it will be completely REBUILT from new nuts/bolts, paint, seals, bearings, and what not.....:BlahBlah: Oh yea going to fab up some front wheel :OhOh: brackets,,, What do you think about AG's on the front?:bigthink: |

Deck is blasted, and 3 coats of primer applied. Ince it sets I'll give it a light wet sanding and then it on to paint.
Still need to repair the deflector it's a little bent up. |

3 coats of primer, 3 coats of base, and 2 coats of clear.. now to let it cure and it will be ready to go back together. Might as well get some decals for it since at this point it completely rebuilt.

Looking good, Keith!

Looks great. Keep at it!!:beerchug::beerchug:

All finished, just need a new belt and to grease it up. Oh and some decals.

Keith has lost his loving feelings for cubs. And he sold his 108. But maybe someday he will get back in to the hobby. RIP High Speed
