Wrong muffler, should still be able to get it, looks in nice shape, the fuel line is also wrong, should be metal.

Thanks for the link. I bought it, can always paint it.
One more question and I will quit asking all these questions, where can you get rattle can paint for touch up work on the yellow? And, what kind of key switches do you guys use? As you can see, someone put a toggle switch where the key goes?

Don't stop asking questions, that would mean you're a know it all.:biggrin2:
Doesn't/won't matter where you would get the rattle can paint, cause it's not certain what paint it was painted with, assuming it has been re-painted.
You're going to have to just get something that'll be close to what you have. There's so many different yellows, hard to say.

It has been completely took down and painted about 8 years ago. The kid gave me a spiral bound book with the restoration in pictures. Has all the receipts of the dollars spent. He did this as a school project. So, it don't need painting, just touched up.

Your serial number is before this style of switch was used, (according to the parts book) but I don't know what the difference is. This is the one I'd use. It will work. It uses the correct IH key, and will work fine. Lew might be able to tell you what your is supposed to have, but I believe it was likely a single wire switch, which is impossible to find.

You have a very nice piece of equipment there. Take it slow.

Congratulations and welcome.

Even though you only need enough for touch up, it still seems that each manufacturer has a tad different tint. I liked the cub cadet rattle can, but it's not cheap.
"But" it drys fast and looks good. And I guess if you only need it for touch ups, it's not like your painting a whole tractor.:beerchug:

X2 on the key switch link provided. There are only 2 wires going to the O key switch, on/off and that's it. The toggle you have will have two wires going to it. Good luck and post more pics!

ambrola 07-29-2016 09:33 AM

olds45512 07-29-2016 12:54 PM

the red bracket gets bolted on with the two bolts behind the seat spring and then the collar goes around the pin sticking out of the lift, the spring hooks onto the collar and the bolt end goes through the bracket.

olds45512 07-29-2016 04:03 PM

yep that's it, its a pretty weird looking setup.

ambrola 07-29-2016 04:43 PM

I think I have all the right pieces in the right spots? Now I need to get some pins and then paint if this is right?

Looks good to me, I'm sure if anything is wrong Lew will let you know.:biggrin2:

ambrola 07-29-2016 07:53 PM

I think it will be good once it's all painted. I also took the deck completely apart. Does anyone make the spindles just or do you just clean them up? The deck is in pretty good shape with only one rusted spot about a inch long.

As a professional body man who deals with rust almost daily I can tell just by looking at that pic that the deck is to the point where it needs sandblasted, cleaning that deep rust with a wire wheel won't do a thing for it. I'd look on Google to see if there's anybody that does sandblasting in your area and see what they charge to do it.

That's what I am going to do. I just hope it don't have a bunch of holes when it's done.

ambrola 07-30-2016 06:57 PM

A friend of mine that I think a lot of you guys know picked up my Tractor today to help me. He is installing the fenders and re-building the carb. His name is Doug C.:beerchug: I think you guys know him by Methos

You know Duke? He'll get you on the right track, the boy knows his Originals.:beerchug:

ambrola 07-31-2016 04:21 AM

Yea,
He has it now re-building the carb and putting the fenders on. I bought the fenders from him. I will post a pic when it's done.

Oak 07-31-2016 07:50 AM

Ambrola, nope, that is not Methos. He is out of the Cub hobby and was last seen on a green machine.

Yes it is. He told me he was Methos on this board. He also told me he hasn't been active for a long time. He took one look at my Original and told me everything about it. He is very knowledgeable of the tractors. He also did tell me he was out of the hobby, but I bought a set of fenders and a re-built short block engine from him. He is selling the last of his stuff?

Oak 07-31-2016 11:34 AM

Well, his name is not Doug C and that is why I said it wasn't him. I know him very well as do a few other members.

I even let him drive my 1772 at the last plow day he was at when his purdy JD X495 broke down.:biggrin2:

ambrola 07-31-2016 12:28 PM

No it isn't. That was my typo error. His name is Duke?

Oak 07-31-2016 03:24 PM

Yes, he will be able to help you out. He did a great job on a few O's a couple years ago.:beerchug:

Yeah those were awesome. All powder coated too if I remember. Wish he was still around when i was doing one of mine.

ambrola 07-31-2016 08:50 PM

The cool thing is that we live 20 minutes from each other.

ambrola 08-03-2016 04:02 PM

I got the O some new shoes and re-built the card. Also have all the parts to the deck and the fenders at the shop for sandblast and paint. I think I have all the parts, now to just get er done. The only thing left to do is fix the steering. After checking it, the little bearings at the tie rods are bad. Yiu can move the steering wheel half a turn before the wheels star to move. what are they called? Where can I get a set? :beerchug:

Nice ags, they will look great on your O!

ambrola 08-03-2016 07:21 PM

I have finished with my Original until I get my parts back from sandblast and paint. I straightened the grill, got the tires on and tuned it up. Now I have nothing to do except tackle that exhaust. I have a new elbow and muffler. Do I just take the old on off and screw the new one on? I will post a picture of what I have.

ambrola 08-03-2016 07:29 PM

Here is what I have. Does this just screw into the engine?
