I’m finally done with the prototype phase and will start getting some of these made up. Hope to have a couple sets ready to go by the end of next week. Anyway this is what the SGT brace will look like. Kit will also include all the hardware needed to install it. Just need to get pricing from the machine shop I use for drilling all the holes. :beerchug:

Sam , Will the kit be available without the Haban plate ???

If that is the way you want it but I want to caution you that if you are thinking about using your existing Haban bracket I already tried that and ended up welding the brace where you see the red line in the pic because the OEM Haban has the back lower corner cut at an angle and it doesn't leave enough material for anything more than one 3/8" bolt so I modified the Haban style just a bit so that I can get a ½” bolt in it with plenty of material around it. |
Nice work Sam!

Would you recommend this for my 2284 that has the rear plate already?

The pic is from my 2182 that had the rear plate and was only used for cutting grass before I bought it although as far as I know it was used by a lawn mowing company in commercial service. It was broken when I bought it. All 3 of my Supers will be getting braced. If you have a golf course smooth lawn and if you are nice and easy on it and if you keep an eye on the bolts probably no need. Just keep in mind that the adapter housing is NLA, I looked around yesterday on the web and found a used one for around $120.00. Then you need to pull the rear, do a total disassembly and put it all back together with new seals and gaskets so you be the judge. |
Looks like i'll be getting two when I can afford them!
|
Did you ever figure out if it will work with the 3pt rear housing brackets?
LOOKING GOOD!! |

i have recently got a 2072. I've had a 782 for 10 years. this bracket bit is new to me, can you explain the importance of this bracket.
thanks |
The brace adds an additional mount to the rear end and reduces the flexing that breaks the mounts.

For those of you that have the rear PTO style 3 point hitch I can now say that the brace fits. Just put one on my 2284 that is now owned by CADplans.
|
Just got mine on my 2084 and it fits great. Seems to stiffen up the rear of the tractor nicely.
Thanks. |
the mounts?? where exactly are you talking about on the mounts? got any pictures on where it breaks at.
|
Good deal Sam saving my Pennies now!!!! did you guys weld it toy he 3point?

I don't figure it's much and wondering if there is a place for chains on mine but they weren't on mine when I got it and don't remember seeing any point to put chains to attach them to. |

I can not tell the difference. :bigthink: BUT, boy, the tractor is STIFF!! With the 1872, you could feel the foot treads "flex" going over uneven ground. Not the 2284. The arms made the frame rigid!! :biggrin2: I like it!! |

Sam, let us know when you have another batch on the way. |
I think I created a monster. Spent a good part of the day working on a set for the GT's. Leadslingingdaddy supplied an 1863 that he pulled the engine out of for one of his tractors. He sent me the frame with the rear in it. If you guys with the Suppers think it's only the Suppers that tear up the rears think again. This thing had 2 broken bolts in the axle tube on one side and something I have never seen, one of the steel mounts that bolt to the case and the frame was broken in half. The aluminum case is good but everything else was loose or missing. Anyway I had a good case and a set of axle tubes to use for the mockup. Gotta love Cub, what I made for the SGT's won't fit the GT's but I have a set that will. The guy that cuts them for me is gonna kill me when I ask him to make another program to cut them and my guess is the machine shop won't be happy after they made a jig to drill them. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

ok thanks guys for the info.

Hey Sam. I mounted the brace on Saturday and gave it a real good workout with the tiller. I am really happy! Everything stayed where it is supposed to. Thanks again.
|
Hugh
Glad to hear that you put the brace on. Did you notice that the tractor feels stiffer? Love to see some pics when you get a chance. :beerchug: |
Yes, the tractor has a nice solid feel now. Before, especially with the tiller on and going over rougher ground, I could feel the frame flex very badly. It kept breaking the bolts on the tunnel cover! I do have one cracked ear on the pump mount, so that was not helping the situation.

Hi Sam , YHM. Thanks , Darrell

Guys
I moved the for sale notice to the for sale section where it belongs. Also the SGT braces are all spoken for pending payment.:beerchug: |
