Thank you for all the help! I just finished up and it was much easier then I first thought. The pins came out easily and when i pushed everything forward I had just enough room to tilt the shaft up and slide it all off without removing the shaft. All in all it took me about a half hour. Now its back up and running. Again thanks for the info:American Flag 1:

One half hour for a first timer has got to be a record. You go boy!

I was a bit intimidated by it before i started but it ended up to only be 2 pins and then the ring on the fan.

Your next step on the progression ladder is to do it on a narrow frame cub. :OhOh:

1250 hydro fan replace

Just as a side note, on my 1650 I had to loosen the four cradle to engine bolts and lift up the rear of the engine in order to free the shaft. Then I could move the shaft to the side at the front and forward to clear the rear parts of the shaft then move the shaft out thru the rear. Im using some small clamps front and rear of the fan to keep it from walking as it was a new smooth shaft , the clip wasnt enough to keep it in place.

Do not loose the ball bearing centering spacer between the couplers.

I'm confused since later on you refer to disconnecting the shaft from the front and removing the pin so as to slide on the fan. How can the fan be installed from the rear?

Re-read post #8. Pretty accurate description.

There is a guy on Face Book that is selling a split fan that clamps over the drive shaft so you don't need to remove the shaft.
