If I remember correctly, the 149 simply has that straight out lever, that rotates,, :bigthink:

Why not take a piece of 3/4" electrical conduit, and two hose clamps, and extend the lever to the right??

I recommended conduit, instead of a piece of broom handle, because you may need a couple bends.

That,,, at least,, would determine if you like the opposite hand control,,,

The love of foot pedal control is what got me to jump off the Cub Cadet ship,, and replace my daily tractor with the JD 4105,,,
The JD hydro foot pedal system is so addictive,,, I have two of them now,,

Someone remind me to buy this man a beer if we ever meet.

To the fellow that moved his lift control to the left, you may have just nailed it. If there's a build thread, please link it. Any tips, tricks, words of wisdom, warning, and pics would be greatly appreciated. I could get used to grabbing all the controls with my left hand, especially if it's a quick and easy conversion.

The main problem I see with moving the lift control lever to the left side is that the PTO lever is already over there, but I guess that could be altered too.

It’s easy on a quiet line. Just flip the lever around. Wide frame would take a little more work.

I have plowed with a 1450 and 149 IH Cub Cadet over the last 40 years. I will take a 1X9 directional system over a Quiet Line any day of the week.

On my 149 my right hand operates the lift and steering wheel when backing up. My left hand operates the directional control(forward-reverse) and steers the tractor while going forward. I use the brake pedal to slow down and/or stop the tractor.

My 149 usually in constant motion unless I get of the seat to adjust the blade angle.

Every lift truck I ran had a foot control throttle....not a hand control.

I'm not a big fan of foot control direction. Too easy to get the tractor bouncing and not have steady speed.

I've always had a foot throttle on the fork lifts too, but the gear shift and hydraulics were all on the right hand side, making forward and reverse a quick switch. I loathe Hyster-Matic's foot controls, but I don't hate the foot controls on my 2135.

Now that I mention the 2135, it's just sitting there with a burnt wiring harness, waiting for me to butcher it for another project I'll never finish, and it would probably suit my particular short driveway snow plowing and occasional wagon pulling needs just fine, but if I recall the snow plows are selling for $800 new, $600 used, and I'm not putting that into a lawn tractor accessory, especially considering that I have a kids and shovels. My driveway's not that big.

Now, if I could get my hands on some free linear actuators, I would totally dream about building a power angle plow and leave all that junk in a pile somewhere to rust.

I agree, and respectively disagree with this part of your post.
When I first got my foot control project installed, I was using a spring to provide tension and return the control to neutral as shown in the first pic. Tension and return to neutral worked good but at certain speeds the hydro would start oscillating the spring and it was like riding a bucking bronco. No matter what strength spring or how I adjusted the linkage could I overcome the bucking.

Then I came across this damper on eBay, shown in pics 2 & 3. It is spring loaded to a centering position, so it can travel either direction but returns to center. It cured all the bucking ills and is smooth as silk to drive. You would have to drive it and I'm sure you would agree. The only thing that could make things better would be cruise control.

Link to the damper (Hint: they accepted my offer of $15).

looks like the ones on bad boy zero turn lawnmowers.

For folks who find this on a search looking for the answer, 1x3, 5, 7, and 9 series have the Hydro controls on the left, 1x50 series, Quiet Line, and SGT control on the right.
