Are the baffles on the underside in good shape? :bigthink:

SLS327 06-02-2018 11:11 PM

Its gone, rusted away.

Not having the baffles will drastically affect the quality of cut and the dispersal of clippings.

Way to go Beth, you are the "woman".

I saw a video of a guy who makes those.
The clippings removal is fine, just a small path behind the inside that stands out, otherwise it cuts good, needs new blades, but they are sharpened.
I should get a new one on since it is my only mowing machine, because it wont cut rite till its on. I will post results with two small pulleys, and see if i can find the baffle. Thanks for your help.

Speaking of baffles...
I'm just about to finish these up for the restoration of this unit.
(Lew, I really need that belt!!)
Cutting the square hole for the carriage bolt on the ends of the 5" radius piece is a PITA.
A 4' piece 1/8" x 1-1/4" flat will do the trick for this deck.
These are for a 38" C.I. end pin on deck I plan on hanging under the 104 I restored last year.

Nice work!

I am curious as to why you would mount a pin on deck to a 104? No criticism just wonderin'?

Squares are better done on iron worker or punch.
Nice job. I will take one of those!
There is a video somewhere and instructions for holes on these, does anyone know where thats at?
The first step was rolling the piece in a hoop. Then breaking it at the ends for the outside blades.

finsruskw 06-03-2018 01:20 PM

I made them in 3 pieces then welded the ends together.
The square holes were not too difficult.
mark the square and center punch 4 places inside each corner and drill 4small dia. holes. Then dress the hole with a file.
A skinny rat tail file and a 3 sided file did the trick.
A little time consuming is all.
