I've used the rustoleum transport yellow, and the rustoleum almond not bad but seem to be a better match to newer Cub colors ,need something between almond and bright white ! I've heard that Krylon -dover white- may be a better match for the late 60's Cubs but haven't been able to locate any in stores to compare, like said earlier nothing like the right stuff in a gun with some hardener but a PITA to do a couple small pcs. :beerchug:

The Magic Paint is for the Magic Bus.:bigthink: Doesn't ever really set up, so the bugs love it. Thin, .....not a good match. The Van Sickle in the quart is good for the red '82 series, but the yeller is off a little. Still, it is a cheap alternative and holds up alright.

I have no problem with any enamel that comes in a quart,,,
Dump in the hardener,, they are all the same,, This is Majic, http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6f1e91fa.jpg The paint is usually hard within a couple hours,, if it takes longer,, I put the paint on too thick,,, I also like Caterpillar old yellow,,, I get it at the CAT dealer,,, http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...003800x448.jpg http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...014800x484.jpg Like I said,, they are all the same to me,, with hardener,,, |

In reply to Joe K, the Rustoleum Safety Red Professional rattle cans are not the same red as IH Red. It's a bit lighter in color, not as Deep Red as the IH Red. Still a pretty good looking Red. Once I get more familier with site I'll post some pictures.

Navajo white
I have found that I believe it is Navajo white is realty close to the 902 white. I will have to go look at the can. I have the paint sanded down on my 125 so that each layer of paint shows. I then sprayed the Almond, and antique whites and found those to be on either side of the original paint. I then stumbled on some Navajo white. I will have to get a photo.

Paint comparison

Got a couple of pics for yall. One is of a set of paint samples trying to match the IH 902 on a 125. The other is my newest treasure find.
The paint are all samples of Rustoleum rattle can. IT seems to be difficult to find the rustoleum in the quart cans in a very good selection. The paint shown as original was exposed by sanding down to it with fine grit paper. I found it interesting that there was no primer from the factory. |
