A friend, David, who lives a mile down the road from me stopped by this morning and dropped off an old Delco-Remy S/G he had picked up a few years ago for me to try out. Before installing it I looked up the model number 1101945 and found it was a CW rotation S/G for Cub Cadet Lo-Boys. Though from the outside it looked the same as my S/G 1101691. I'm glad I didn't try to use that S/G otherwise I likely now would have more problems than a bad S/G.

David has a friend Jimmy who lives further down our same road, owns an armature shop in Providence, and repaired a S/G for his large Ford tractor at a fair price. David called Jimmy who offered to come to my house and take a look at my S/G. I declined but will bring my S/G to his shop on Monday.

he may be able to rework that Low Boy one to work or use parts from it to fix yours... I'd take em both with me to the starter shop.

I brought it to General Armature Service in Providence on Monday and picked it up today. They replaced the fields, brushes, terminal posts, bushings/bearings, and a paint job for $95. That is not much more than what it would have cost me for parts if I did the job myself. I installed the S/G and mowed for about an hour and the amp meter shows it is charging so all seems okay.
