Looking at your pic again and your trunion springs are gone. I mean not there.

I got the front cleaned and painted.. I painted the motor as well. Also removed head to de-carbon it, looked like it been apart before had wrong spark plug as well. I still have to pull the steering to fix it as well as the console. Hope to wrap whole thing up next week save for the deck. Might be a while on it as its missing parts and have to make others. I'll get some picture of the progress tomorrow. |
You've been busy! Looking forward to your pics.

Added some pictures. Spray painted the motor. The Head is just sitting on it waiting on a gasket. And yes that is a pipe 90* being used as exhaust its on there and owner was OK with using it.
It had wrong spark plug. Also the coil was a 6v coil and it was cracked so got the correct 12vcoil, need to check/replace points. Waiting on powder to come in to finish the motor up as well as the sheet metal, so hope to wrap the rolling resto up next couple of weeks and give it back to the customer. Depends on how the deck restore goes. |

That link does not have the proper coil for your machine.... that's an LS motor swap to older cars site. So.... unless your putting an LS in that thing, I hope you didn't order a coil from them. So Bo, what kind of shop do you run? Interesting someone hired you to "restore" a Cub Cadet with such little knowledge about them. :bigthink: |

I own a business that does, CnC plasma coating, metal art, and powder coating. I worked as an FAA licensed A&P aircraft mechanic for 15 years before that. I been around IH's forever, just never tore into a cub before. I have a 1973 IH 1210 Travelette and a 1973 IH Scout II. The travelette is pulling my 55 chevy in the picture. These are quite simple I have worked on 30 million dollar biz jets so a lawn tractor is pretty easy. :biggrin2: I know the owner done work for him before on some of his other stuff namely LS stuff. But he got this in a inheritance from an uncle. I actually really like it so I may end up with it. If not then I might just look for one of my own. |
