Bob if you are using cub cadet yellow it is quite a bit brighter than the school bus yellow that more closely matches the federal yellow. But at any rate, you're right, that paint takes FOREVER to dry among other things. There are some of us that use it in the quart or gallon, mix it with thinner ad hardener and use a gun, it's better but not great.

I've used Martin senior from napa which is still an enamel and better yet. Haven't tried the dealer paint but most say it's very good, still an enamel.

The joker Sam Mac used Duplicolor safety yellow from advance auto and said it worked well.

I'm going to try my hand at a urethane when I run out of the gallon of school bus yellow but it takes a while to use it all up. I will say whatever you decide to use or try, I recommend 100 percent to get and use a hvlp gun and mix it right, you won't be dissapointed in the results as compared to the spray can! And remember, it's all about the prep too.

Alvy,

The urethane paint is worth it all the way around.. it drys quick and hard and holds up 4 to 1 against most enamels.

i agree Rust-oleum is the ticket. At less than 4 bucks a can you can do the whole tractor for 25 bucks. I just picked up the almond also need to see if it matches the white (off white). not the best pic but this is the 107 i have been working on this winter. First face lift and had a blast, begining and under construction
forgive me if the pics dont come through "first time caller long time listener"

I use Duplicolor school bus yellow, AKA Federal Yellow.
Almost a dead nuts match for the IH/Cub stuff.
About $4.50 a can at CarQuest.

You could have also gone to your local Lowes and ordered Valspar rattle cans in Cub Cadet Yellow. It takes 3 or 4 days to come in.

You mean Iron Gard? That is one paint that I won't waste money on again after all the troubles we had with it on my son's Original. peels in sheets on freshly sandblasted and primered metal.
