To answer your question: It was a 149 labeled a 147, and there's no PTO belt going to the mower deck. You can see the pulleys on the mule drive.

I've got the Book "Original Farmall Cub and Cub Cadet" by Kenneth Updike and that 147 appears two or three times. He described it as a test mule in disguise.

Correct although it's not stated in this picture that it's a test mule. There's also an 86 that has 86 decals places over top of others. I got the same book, good yob

Also stated that the 73 was originally called an 83 and they changed it

I can see it because I have the brochure.

Correct. I'm learning buddy. Grasshopper right here!

Says this:

The plans called for the replacement of the 7 horsepower model 72 cub cadet with an 8 horsepower model (model number unknown) this plan was based on the anticipated introduction of a 7 horsepower mowing tractor (later to be called the cadet 76) concurrently with the new model 107, 126, and 127 cub cadets in 1970. However due to the necessity of utilizing available engineering manpower on higher priority programs (farm tractors and combines) the 8 horsepower model would not materialize at this time. Thus the model 72 would be replaced by the model 83, but was later renumbered the model 73. This involved a change of decal only
