I agree . I thought it was just me that was noticing this going on,don't wanna ruffle any feathers and piss anybody off. Everyone is here for the same reason our love of these machines. All of us are not on the same mechanical level. Some people learn and understand faster and better than others. There is no need for rudeness here like I have seen on some Facebook groups that I had been a member of. I agree I have tried looking stuff up on here and had a hard time finding what I searched for. I have also looked stuff up in the tech manuals and over looked things too. A lot of times I ask things to get other peoples opinons on something . This is my 2 cents for the day.

This type of FAQ would be a great asset to OCC.

Just make sure you don't own a plastic hooded MTD built tractor....Other than the various Cyclops models that is and you'll be ok. And god knows, if you fight back a bit to the know it alls who call your tractor junk, you may even get called a troll.

This website has evolved somewhat even the last few months, and I wouldn't say it has evolved in a good way. It has evolved the way many poorer forums on the web do. Fine with me, I learned a month ago that OCC is not inclusive. It is an exclusive club with a very pronounced hierarchy.

Still a good place to read up on what the good guys are up to on their machines which is always interesting, plus the weekly soap opera on what causes a certain member to get all pissy again whilst saying "I'm done with this post". Those are my favourite. The smart ass answers and the I'm right, cause I say so always makes me laugh.

Yea, I bought my 149 a couple of years ago, it has cut all our grass since but was using some oil and so I figured it was time to overhaul it. Lights didn't work, so figured I'd take care of that also. Turned out that my cylinder was really good, even the old piston fit very well so just ordered a new piston, pin and chrome rings.
The lights were another matter, I made sure all the wiring was good, put in new tail lights, also installed an in-dash fuse holder, similar to many older farm tractors. Hooked up everything but no lights. Tested and learned that the switch itself was not working so too it out and pried it apart carefully. I cleaned and sandpapered the contact parts inside, then put it back together, crimped the edges to make it hold then applied black liquid rubber all 'round to seal it from dust and moisture. Now it works like a champ, looks like it's supposed to, no aftermarket switches or any of that, we like to keep it as original as is possible.
Also, the hole in the drive shaft (back to the Hydro') was really worn, so used the wirefeed and added in the metal, reamed out the hole to the proper 1/4 inch and now that's fixed.
When I show some guy my machine, I always say, "The Cub Cadet ... the LAST mower you'll ever have to buy".

Everytime somebody asks about ribbed tires, I throw up a couple pics of my tractors. Just another reason to post some pics of my fine machines.

Sometimes I just post random threads in general chat because I just feel like chatting. I'm kind of a loner in real life. I mean, I have the guys at work I hang out with every day, but that's as far as it goes. Pretty much me and the wifey most of the time. I come here to hang out.
