I guess I don't completely understand what the correct coupling is supposed to look like. Does the drive shaft just have a pin through it that turns the coupling that is bolted to the flywheel drive cup assembly?

I also see configurations where people have a flex coupling to absorb shock as shown in the second photo I attached. What is the original configuration and what is the best configuration?

Here's the ( worn ) coupler that was on my 125 which got replaced.
