If you enjoys these and have always wanted a smoker, i'd get it. Especially since it comes with a blower. If i lived closer i'd get it if i was happy with it after a test drive. like matt said a dash aint no big deal.

I wish we lived closer and had the money. It would be in our basement in a matter of no time. I have seen worse go for around the same price. You can not beat a 782D. The one farm I worked on had one and I LOVED it. We only used it for mowing grass. It too had hub caps and was garage kept. The owner sold the farm and took the 782D with him. I wish I could have bought it back then. One day, I will have a smoker!!!!
As was said, at least go look at it and see what it is like, and if it is worth the asking price. You can always try to dicker some and see what the seller says. Give it a shot or you might be kicking yourself later one. It is only a few minutes drive for you.

No I gues you don't understand my point of view. New ags, dash, seat, drive shaft, and cost of purchase he'll be right at $3K. No one will pay $3K for this. Blower is worth $100 today, so what, this is not December.

The man has more than one and he'll SOON find that he is OVER invested.

But you guys keep right on cheerleading, you're good at it.

Pappaglide, you got the money then go spent it. Why post asking for opinions if all you are gonna get is cheerleaded?

Mike you don't have the money, that's kinda the point I was making. At some point it is about the money not just the hobby. But GOD forbid any one of us should point that out.

I have a 1872, the steering valve just sprung a leak, I don't have the money to fix it because I have everything tied up in another project. This is exactly where you will be at some point unless you have bottomless pockets.

Do what ever you want.

Last thought.

Matt and Bedell you are over taking the ability for anyone else to have an opposing point of view. Arrogance will get the best of you.

murphycc,

some folks don't know what they have, those are the deals to look for

So do you pass up deals when the owner is knowledgeable and is asking fair market value?

It's not about what someone else would pay. Go price an entry level Diesel with a 50" cut. Now price a snow thrower for it. Don't forget the front hydraulics.

As for so what, this is not December. Either you do not know the story of the grasshopper and the ant or you are a stubborn grasshopper.

Guys,

Let's keep this thread civil!

Well, God forbid I share my own opinion regarding this tractor, which I am certainly entitled to. If you don't agree...fine. But you certainly don't need to tear down everyone else who has an opinion that varies from yours. ACecil is right...this is really taking the fun out of things for me right now...

Scott,

I have no problems with opposing point of views......AS LONG AS THEY STAY CIVIL

Yours are beyond civil.

I spent about $12k over the last 9 months and I studied prices most of those months, I've seen better deals. I learned the hard way, you'll never get your money back, it's that simple. Once I get into working on one I find it's the little parts here and there that drain my play money.

That doesn't make you an expert. Different areas of this great country have different prices on their Cubs.

Papaglide,

You need to weigh the pros and cons about the 782D. I have to see the tractor before I can tell you what to do. One word of warning...a diesel can be hard to start when it is cold.
