My 149 has the oil filler/ dipstick tube built into the cam cover on the left side (as seen from sitting on it). Yours is a series older, so I don't know where it would be. Good luck with the project!

My 147 has the filler tube on the top right side and the dipstick down on left side (sitting on the tractor)

Thanks guys on the oil filler tube and dip stick orientation. Yes thats what I have, Just not used to these big blocks yet.
Update. The engine is out on the floor. I pulled the head and when replacing the head bolts I dropped one of the washers down into the flywheel area. So I pulled the motor off and removed the screen and fished out the washer.
Another question:
The engine was setting on a slant resting on the sump and leaning towards the PTO . This morning there was a puddle of oil on the floor that looks like it came from the front crank seal area? Should that be a leak path with the engine tipped that direction? Also I think the engine was over filled above the dip stick line.
Some good news: The piston is stamped STD and had a good looking smooth cylinder wall and no piston slop. The valves and seats look good. Maybe this thing will run?
Also got the hydro linkage working again with lots of blaster.
Electric lift had water in it?? Not sure that is going to be salvaged?

Some shots of the snow blower for the Cub/s.
Seems to roll over part way chain may be rusted stiff?? Haven't looked at it yet. Seems to be all there but will let the experts here tell me about this attachment.
This was hooked to the RED 147 because it had a very short belt still on the tractor, which I assume was the drive belt for the snow blower.

nice 147 chris, i was expecting a little worse. the qa42a thrower seems to be all their. i really dont want to think about that yet, do you mind putting it away for about 6 months. nice find!! o ya do you still plan on going to the seagertown steam engine show? My brother and i hope to make it i am sure we will have at least on tractor their, may be 3. hope to see ya their.

The pictures do not describe the condition. The only thing that may not have been, bent rusted, busted, or broken so far was the STD piston:)
I will be attending the show in Sagertown. Not sure when exactly yet. I will let you know as that firms up.
I may even enter some of the Cubs for fun?

The Red and White 147 is kind of growing on me:) It might look good that combo. I have not searched the forum, I am sure someone has pictures of a restored one done in red and white too?
Friend of mine and his brother are deep in Wheel Horse machines and he likes working on these size tractors much better than antique cars which have to be always for show, these tractors can get dirty and are supposed too!:)

Update on the snowblower. I know its a little early:)
I sprayed some WD40 on the end shaft bearings and the chain and its free rolling.

I met several very nice cub owners in western Ohio Sunday at the Wayne Tractor show on 322.
I was able to get a few parts for the 147 and now have a source for some more Cub parts also. Good used grill, shifter handle. (also got a hood ornament for the 102.
On the 147 I have pulled the carb and cleaned it up need to stop and get the bowl gaskets tomorrow.
Not sure how far I am going to go with the 147 clean up? Have de-greased the engine and the frame and found many areas that need attention. I did straighten all the wrinkles in the fenders and may be able to make them presentable. The right foot rest was bent down on the outer front corner about 1 inch and I have that back in position. Removed the wheel weights.
I do have a handful of parts cleaned, primed and painted. So that's a start. I guess if any tractor needs help this one does:) The engine will get a good wire brushing. primed and painted prior to going back in. I guess that means the rest of the tractor will need to be cleaned up too. I will try to post some pictures. This is not going to be a restoration project my wife keeps telling me!
