Cub Cadet Machines
Say, those are some nice looking Cubs...:beerchug:
Your front bumpers are very nice and provide great protection for the front ends of your Cubs too...however, that paint color looks a little closer to John Deere yellow! I would scuff sand them and give them a few coats of semi-gloss black for better harmony with the Cub yellow!:biggrin2: |
Those cubs are in good shape. I love the bumpers.

Cub bumpers
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I'll admit, I am a bit of a purist when it comes to how Cubs should look...my fault...sorry!

Thanks. :beerchug:
They weren't always that nice. Here's a few earlier pics along the way. |

Restored this 3240 3 years ago but just put the hub caps on it and started mowing with it

Picked this up yesterday. Only 497 hrs but was kept outside part of it’s life so just some minor things to do. Always wanted a 3000 series. Mowed with it a little bit at the seller’s property. Man these are nice.
|
A nice find...a 40th anniversary too!

Getting the Grandchildren interested in the Cubs!

My Daughter sent me this picture from their visit last summer. Our grand daughter really enjoyed riding the 1864 and did an excellent job steering her way around the neighborhood on our ride. The power steering really helped her compared to the 1641!:biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

Very nice Gary. Always treasure nice family moments.

Grandchildren...
Thank you Beth! Her name is Helena and she's our first of three. Seven years old at the time...
Helena really likes tractors...all sizes! My daughter and son in law often take her to places where there are tractors, so she can have her picture taken on them and have it sent to Gampy. I love it!!! :biggrin2: |

My MTD built 7264. With over 2000 hrs on the clock, I cannot believe this thing is still chugging along.

Cub Cadet with loader attachment
Obviously very well made and well cared for! 'Tis a thing of beauty...and that loader is very handy for so many things!
Some of the things I have moved with my loader in addition to dirt, stone, sand, brush and compost, include my boom lift (hitch mounted to bucket), sandstone slabs, pavers, refrigerators, moving implements, building materials, pulling out fence posts, machines etc. The older I get, the more I seem to use it for lifting heavier things. I also like to remove the mower deck on the 1864 and lift it with a sling to scrape and power wash it occasionally too. I couldn't be without it! So handy!! :biggrin2: |

CCC/MTD Cubs...
That's a beautiful machine!!! Love the hubcaps!! Definitely a show tractor!!:biggrin2:
One question I have about this model and a few others of this vintage is why the hood doesn't extend all the way to the top edge of the front grille. What is under the hood behind the front grille that caused MTD to extend it beyond the headlights so far? Similar models in the line that have a shorter snout seem to fit together to create a smoother transition, more flush with the front, so the headlights flow down on to the grille. When this model came out, was the shorter hood used as a cost saving measure, rather than having a new, more expensive, specially made extended hood? Does anyone know about the design history of this model machine? :bigthink: |

The 3000 series were designed pretty good. The hood lifts a little different on these models. This is my 3205 with the liquid cooled Kawi. It has been my front yard mower for many years.

Put the 1641 twins to bed for the long winter ahead
1 Attachment(s)
Finally got a good day to exercise the 1641 twins I restored a while back out for a little ride. Dad's started up right away...mine took about 15 seconds.
I disconnected the trickle chargers and ran the cubs to the neighbors house and back a few times to burn up the (non-ethanol) gas in carb, then did some circles around the driveway to exercise the steering. Also exercised the hydro...all and all, good fun! The attached picture shows the twins parked for the winter after shutting off the fuel and letting engines run until the gas was out of the carburetor. Covered them with old sheets to keep the dust off. Garage heater is set for 50 degrees. It's going to be a long, long winter... :bigthink: |

it is a model 2 tiller and is attached by a original three point hitch and is belt driven. the tiller is a bit rusty but works amasing

Do any of you guys know if they offered a high back seat like what is on my 782d or is it just aftermarket Thanks
