Chris, I finally got back to checking out your project, holy smokes, your cruising right along. But I suppose to you it seems like it's taking forever?
Keep at it, it's looking great. The seat looks like it belongs on it, and wait till you get to use it, you'll be happy with the purchace.

Looking good!:beerchug:

Duke, Larry Thanks
Todd,
I have made only one design change to the Cub for the seat. I added (2) 2 inch aluminum spacer blocks at the rear of the seat spring to avoid the spring flexing and causing the adjustable seat rails to bind. Not sure how harsh the ride will be? Other than that and no seat time yet. I like the seat a lot. I think it will work very well.

OK guys (Dave) straighten me out on the procedure for timing one of these. Book says just bring it to TDC when the points are full open and set them to .020. So far that's all I have done.
I didnt even look for timing mark in the side cover hole.

Did get a 2 hours in the deer stand yesterday (zip). And spent the rest helping Eric side his house restoration project. No CUB time this weekend.

Regards,
Chris

Chris good luck and enjoy yourself in the deer stand.

I would use Matt's guide to time to motor or I would use a timing light.

Duke, and folks,
Thanks, I got it it timed, per Matt's instructions.
- rolled it outside, before picture, also and shot of regulator.
-Trial fit of the old hood and the cowl plastic tonight. My body work leaves a lot to be desired:). Really need a new hood or much better body man.
- Also fellow Cub owner is sending me a bushing for the top of the carb.
- Got the decals today from Maple Hunter, They look good!
-Tried out the sliding seat and it functions nicely.
-Hunting tonight limited the 147 time. Mostly saw the insides of my eyelids.
Regards,
Chris

Duke,
Thanks for the support! You have been there every step of the way!
This is a major project to remove all the paint from one of these I have a new respect for the guys that go show quality on these machines.
This is NOT a show tractor, this is just a good clean unit. It still has some of the dents and dings, and the paint job is not that great but the next owner can yell about that. It will probably be a mower in a year or so.
I will wet these decals and apply!
Looks like I am taking a night off from hunting and siding work to work on the 147 for a while. And will try to get the decals in place.

Hey on the timing. I followed Matt's instructions but it was my first time. Can I screw this up in some way? Like maybe having the S mark in the timing hole when its on the wrong stroke of the piston. I over think things too much sometimes, but I like very detail instructions too. And I have been know to make dumb mistakes with the best of them!
Regards,
Chris
