Yes I replaced the (seal), thanks for mentioning it though.
Chris, what is it you need (want) to know about the creeper? |
Todd,
Nothing at this time on the creeper. Mine is working OK on the barn fresh 102. I don't have a 3 point on that tractor but would assume the creeper would be great for rototiller work? Regards, Chris |

I've got my tiller on the 123, so I can't comment on using one on a shift tractor. |
I have a 102 with creeper and std tranny. It is extremely helpful when engine speed is needed but ground speed needs to be slow, slower than 1st gear. As I recall ground speed in third gear low range is still a bit slower than high range 1st gear. In effect it makes a six speed tranny. I have had a single problem with the high low transfer. The shift knob goes down and is connected to a u shaped yoke. The yoke connects to the rest of the mechanism by a roll pin. This roll pin is located directly up from the bottom drain hole. I have had that roll pin work out and when that happens everything goes to neutral. I have fixed it both on and off the tractor. I finally got fed up and installed a new pin that seemed to be just a bit oversized and it has held for a number of years. Do not attempt to shift the creeper while moving. Shift the trans to neutral and then shift the creeper in or out and all works well.

Thanks Paul! Good to know there is a 102 with creeper owner out there for us:)
Regards, Chris |
If I can help it would be my pleasure. I have had mine apart a couple of times when the pin fell out. The creeper is a real bear to get out without major disassembly but can be done. I did replace the offending pin with it still in the machine and that too is rather delecate. As I said before shift into neutral before moving the creeper. Forget about split shifts.

Got a little done this afternoon. Got the axles cleaned up and primed, also the axle tubes. Now I put the seals in, the question is how far to I put them in? Even with the tubes or all the way down?
The ones that were in it were both ways, one even and one down below the edge. One was leaking but I can't remember what one, HELP! |
I'd probably seat them against the bottom surface. Your work is really looking great!

Look at the seal surface of the axle to tell the correct location for the seal. You do not want the rubber to run on worn or corroded or painted steel. Maybe one should be down, and one up!! :bigthink: |
