That's one sweet looking little tractor. Looks to be a hard working machine. It never ceases to amaze me what the smaller early cubs can accomplish. I love the duals and you did a real clean job with the lights front and rear.

Thanks! I think I'am just gonna lerk here for a while. I want to get a few things done: 1 is to make a z bend in the throttel cable to re-set the gov. 2. Figure out why 1 out of 3 lights work. 3. I would like to toutch up some paint chips and rust spots. 4. Was wondering if there is a Cub Cadet paint number for the silver grill in the 71. Here is a picture because we like to see pictures of the cubs. No tank pict. . Just reminded me of the cub cadet logo....with the green corn where the tank would be.

Is that thing original paint? If so, I'd leave it be...it's only original once.

Matt- For the most part. Original wheels fo a 72, and motor. I like these bigger tires. The hood and stuff are orig. paint; faded out a lighter yellow for sure. Like Y.Sam, I have all the orig. parts for.... when I convert back to 38" mower. Shined 'er up today!:beerchug:

Really agree with Matt. Leave it as-is. It's rare when tractors age as gently as that, and to cover over the original paint would be a detractor, IMO.

yesterday and today
Yesteday I fabricated a narrow frame front blade to fit my 109 that I just got for free a week or two ago. Then I took it out behind the barn and leveled some dirt. Today I started leveling dirt and noticed a small hydro leak, just a drip here and there. I took the fenders off, and the tires and cleaned the hydro to find the leak. It turns out it is coming from around the trunion shaft. Is that a hard seel to replace? It looks like I could just take of the snap ring, and then take the old one out with a screw driver and then shove the new one on. Is that possible?

If it's the right side, then you can. If it's the left, you have to disassemble the hydro unit.

Left side of the tractor, as in the left side while you're sitting on it. The left side seal is under the trunion bracket that's welded to the shaft. The right side is just a stub shaft. Look a little closer at it and you'll see what I mean.
