No snow to speak of yet. We are about 35" or so behind our yearly average.

Yeah and all of this NO snow is making all my Cubs cry LOL.

I think my cub is glad there is no snow, cause it's getting a paint job. Tearing it completely down to the frame this week.

That usually will guarantee snow!

Ya, I know. Just hoping it doesnt snow. If it could hold out for about another week till I get the painting done, then it can snow all it wants.

that was fun. 2 glorious fun filled hrs. of not 1, but 2 types of snow removal.
however, i am not a huge fan of the hydro when it comes to removing snow. you need 3 hands to manuever that machine. stick shift and a plow is the life for me. i had to be stopped on my third pass around the neighborhood. kids were getting out of school. had to be carefull. third gear seemed to be the best way to go, as the snow just peeled off the plow like curling waves on the ocean. the home fabricated lift system works real good. i'm able to pile it up to about 3' so far. we'll need more snow to see if i can top that.
the snowthrower clogged too many times for it to be a true worker. however, i'm told that my engine isn't big enough for that size thrower. now i see why. it's still coming down pretty good and more is on it's way tonight. i hope to get some action shots. happy plowing.:beerchug:

I have been either plowing or snow blowing for many years, since back in the 70's. Plus for the plow is it doesen't matter whether there are a few stones they will roll. Minus for the plow is if you have pushed it back and a week later need to plow again you cannot move what you plowed earlier. Plus for the plow you can go faster. Minus for the plow is there is a limit to how much you can move.
Plus for the blower is you do not have a snow bank frozen solid along the edge of the driveway. Plus for the blower you can direct the chute where you want it. Minus for the blower you can and will get fine snow all over you at some point unless you have a cab. Somewhat a minus is if your drive is stone you get stones in the lawn. Big plus for the blower is no matter how deep the snow you can move it. I once moved snow drifted over 4 feet deep with the blower.

I have and use both and both have their advantages and disadvantages.

i took a quick shot of the two after the initial cleaning, and had to bring them back inside to check for loose/broken parts. the thrower works a little better with the powdery snow. the auger repair turned out to be a set screw collar on each end. sometimes the simplest things work. a weld on the frame for the plow broke, nothing major. it does need some bracing however. for a shoemaker job it's holding up well. going back at it again this a.m.

Well this is a Great thread! All those cubs,plows , and throwers are SWEET! Just got a dusting this morning, calling for 2"-4" tonight so we'll see? Well here's mine don't have the plow on maybe next year when i get the 108 done I will swap the thrower on her. Have fun playing guys!:drool2:
