Log puller
I used the 1250 to pull this big log to a spot in the yard. I put reflective house numbers on the log and turned it up on it's side.

Nice work, I had a big rock in front of my house and did the same, what is that white stuff?
|
Looks good, except I cannot read the numbers:biggrin2:

So yesterday I wanted to cut the back yard with one of the 129's. I had already cut the front with the 1211 and figured give each tractor some use. I started up the 129 and happened to notice the amp meter acting erratically.
A couple of quick tests showed I was not charging and the S/G was good. I removed the V/R and opened it up to find the feed to coil was burned in the middle and broken. This is the first time I have seen one do this. I soldered the wire back together and tested the continuity. Replaced the V/R and its now charging fine. I shut the tractor off for a few min to tighten everything up. Went to restart and it would not start. No spark. I checked everything out and found the coil took a crap. I had the battery disconnected while the V/R was out and don't think I shorted anything. I put a another coil on it and everything was fine after that.. Maybe just a fluke I guess. Anyway, Point of the story is maybe not a bad idea to pop open the V/R's and have a look before buying a new one. I will however order a new one and keep the repaired one as a back up. The repair is not great.. Only had some solder that was thicker than I really wanted to use. Ugly but it works! |

not just today but the last few
Well, my son and I worked on our cubs the last few days and got them both running. Both were barn finds and not running. Mine is a 105 and was in pieces his is a 1650. His was complete but not able to turn the motor over by hand. He soaked it for a day or two with some oil and it freed right up. We both thought that was a good sign. He got it running but it was making noise. Before he could shut it down it threw the rod. Damage was mineable and he already has the machine shop working on it. The 105 is together and I put in new points, condenser, coil,Plug and wire. I did rebuild the carb with new Kohler parts. It started right up but ran a little rough. A quick search on here and I adjusted the timing and now it purrs like a kitten.
It drives real well and must say I am hooked on these little tractors. I made a list of what I need to finish and have started buying them from the sponsors of this site. I have done tons of reading on this forum and have learned so much. I plan on taking lots of pictures of the rebuild and post them up. I really haven't even started to work on this one and find myself looking to get an original. I think I might have a problem! |

I mowed with the 125 yesterday. After I got done my wife asked if there was any way the cub could stripe a yard. Not that my yard is all that big, or nice, but she likes the way it looks. So I spent this afternoon building this contraption. It seems to work ok. Can’t really tell since I mowed yesterday. The threaded rod is definitely to weak. Need to replace with a piece of round stock .

New TO ME 149

Today I started to check for things that needed to be done on the 149.
Tightened up the steering cam adjusting screw and put grease in the steering box. Then greased the axle spindles. Helped the steering a lot. Took some play out and steers easier. Then I took off the inspection plate between the floor boards. What a shock. Piled full of fine dirt. No oil, just dirt. Hosed it off with water hose and came pretty clean. Then hosed off bottom side of engine on carburetor side. Got water in the points and like to never got it out so it would start. Put it back in shed and called it quits for the day. Pictures attached. First two pictures are before and last two pictures after water hosing. Not that you would have trouble telling that. Have a great day. Bob |
You probably lowered the operating temp of that pump by about 40 degrees by removing the insulating coating of dust . Good work!

Cleaned up a couple of hubcaps I picked up earlier this year.
Not perfect, but they will look pretty damn good on a tractor! Got them with a blown up 782 with a 48gt deck for $150 in April I think. |
Man, that is some great work! Good elbow grease on those bad boys!
|
Picked up parts for the ol 1250. Side panels, muffler box, muffler, and the baffle. 60$. I think it wasnt a bad price, eh?

Cut the grass with my new mower as the 3235 made someone else a nice mower.
|
Nice job LP I’m a fan of course. I’ve never mowed with a cast end before. I’ve got one just haven’t ever mounted it. Looks sweet
|
Mr. sunshine in a can, it cut nice, no uncut areas, but the partial baffle missing on the left side made another row, blades were sharp, just IIWII.
I did rebuild the PTO, and all the spindles turn freely, actually the deck is rather quiet if I may say so. |

Pulled fenders off the 682 and my newest 782 project to swap a non-leaky valve for a leaky valve so I can keep my mowing and landscaping schedule up while I send the valve off to get rebuilt.
The fender/pan are in really really bad shape on it, but once it’s off, the tractor doesn’t look half bad. |

Love your new mower Lew. Great survivor!

So I put a different set of tires on the 1250, a set of 6-12s. I think it kind of looks good. https://image.ibb.co/kHPrk9/2018_08_25_21_33_36.jpg

I reassembled the seat and rear fenders of my 102. It's been out of service since winter because the shifter broke. I welded it long ago and just got it back in service today. Washed up the 102, 107, and the zero-turn.

Another 44A Deck getting some love
3 Attachment(s)
So I am trading one of my 44A decks and a carriage this weekend for a complete 104 tractor . Since I am loosing a 44a and I have one ready to be fixed up I started on this one today. Over all it is pretty solid. All the spindles seem good but I will go through them anyway. I have all the covers and parts for it.. Heres a few before pics.
