Had to replace the drive barrels on my 2155. It nuts how much you have to tear down just to do a 30 min job. You gotta love these engineers. Good for another 25 yrs although I highly doubt the tractor will last that long. https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...attach/jpg.gif

Carter carb rebuild, part 1
Tonight I started rebuilding the Carter carburetor off of my IH Cub Cadet 70. I took it apart and cleaned it, will continue cleaning very well tomorrow. The kit didn’t come with a new intake gasket so I’ll have to order one meaning it might be a little while until I can actually reinstall the carburetor. If anyone has any does, don’t s, or have to s about rebuilding these carburetors please tell me.

I've been known to make intake gaskets using the cover of a spiral notebook. Soak it in oil. Bob's your Uncle.

F&F sells rolls of gasket material by me. I've actually made a lot and never had a failure. Biggest probably for the axle bearing carriers on my Farmall M.

Pulled the driveshaft out of my 129 to replace the dowel pin at the engine end. I forgot that I had temporarily replaced the dowel pin with a spiral roll pin last spring when the dowel fell out as I was rolling my yard. I used my lathe to put a 1/4”-20 hole in the end for a set screw to hold the pin in place. I ground a flat on the pin for the set screw and used cylindrical LocTite on the pin and set screw. Hopefully, the pin will stay put now.

Welded up and ground down some imperfections in my Brinly adapter to get it ready for paint.

Mocked up some of the parts we are making for the 383 Cat '0' project.

Put the rearend back the the 149 in between stripping and painting parts for another project. With everything easy to get at I fixed an issue that has aggravated me for three years The tunnel bolts were just large self tapping screws that just rattled around. I made four nuts from flat bar and welded those to the frame flange. Not sure why it took me so long to make myself do it.
I also copied IHinIN and put a set screw in the end of the drive shaft to lock the coupling dowel pin. Thanks for that idea! |
127 engine removal
Today I removed the Kohler K301A engine from my IH Cub Cadet 127. It was stuck junk. I removed the cylinder head, generator, oil dipstick, and air cleaner/carburetor assembly for my personal parts stockpile. I plan on eventually putting something of at least 15hp(preferably 18-20hp) in it. Maybe a Kohler Magnum 20 or some cheap diesel.
