Opening day of our firearm season (11/23) the wife (Nancy) got herself a nice 2 1/2 year old 8 pointer. She camped out in her hunting blind Friday evening so she wouldn't spook any deer going in this morning.
Woke to 12* and -6 wind chill. Yes it's heated. After a day long sit and seeing few deer, this afternoon at 3:45 she harvested the buck with a 70 yard shot with my 308. The deer went 20 yards.
That'll be buck number two in the last five years since she started hunting.

Camped out? Woah, now that's called -tenacious!

Great deer, facial expression tells the whole story.:beerchug::beerchug:

NIK,

butcher fest

4 Attachment(s)
We got a doe Thursday and had the gang over today for butcher fest.
Good time, and real good eats:beerchug:
Notice I have to sit next to my wife while she has a knife in her hand. Never good!
Also have to do the cooking besides, it got a little Smokey after awhile too. (Ruger thinks he's getting some)
Call me weird, (happened before) but there is a great deal of accomplishment and pride that comes over me when you bring sustenance to your table.
Grow the food plots to feed the deer, harvest the animal, butcher it ourselves. Not to mention the fun having great friends to enjoy these simple things in life.
Ok, :BlahBlah:
Your not seeing double, there's two chairs rolling around. That's Randy, one of my oldest friends. Don't hold it against him, he's a green fan.

Cubcrazy 12-07-2013 03:48 PM

Thanks for the pics Todd! Making me hungry!

nikster 12-07-2013 07:22 PM

Yes indeed, good times for all. What good memories.

Nik

Todd,
No wonder I haven't heard from you! You have been killing deer! Butchering them, and then eating them too.
Like us, the process brings together the family.
Great shots!
I set in a stand near the house for about 3 hours today. nothing moving.
Regards,
Chris

Couple pretty winter pictures, thinking the deer aren't liking it this early. Going to be a long winter for the critters.

PaulS 12-28-2013 09:46 AM

Got a deere yesterday. No it is not green. It isa brown and down one that I got with my flintlock. It is a small doe and my third one for the year. I got a huge doe in Kansas in Sept. Got a mature doe in PAs early Oct muzzleloader season and now a doe with my flinter. Life is good. Life is delicious.

Cubcrazy 12-28-2013 10:08 AM

Congrats on the doe Paul! One of these days I will have to get my flintlock back out.

ACecil 12-28-2013 10:10 AM

Congrats Paul! :beerchug:

zippy1 12-28-2013 07:38 PM
