Paint alternatives to factory CC paint for 1997 2185?

Hi all, I want to touch up a few areas on my 1997 2185 but I cant bring myself to pay a premium for factory CC spray paint. Based on my research, the factory colors are,

-0499 beige powdered p/n 759-3737
-0498 yellow powdered p/n 759-3588

Anyone know the Majik color equivalent that Tractor supply sells or know another paint brand can color that matches my 1997 colors? Thank you.

This may not help because of matching color but I pretty much use
Irongaurd paint that I get at the Case dealership. I have had really
great results with it. It may not be any more cost effective and it seems the
price has doubled in the last year.
Maybe they have a color that matches your machine.

Majik from Tractor Supply is crap. BTDT. TSC used to sell Valspar paint in rattle cans and it was very good then they get cheap and went to the Majik stuff. Rustolium Painters Touch 2X Ultra Cover Enamel # 249862 gloss Marigold. Is supposed to be a close match with the 82 series yellow.

After doing a lot of comparing different colors, these two paints are very good matches to the paint used on my 1997 2185. Hopefully this will help others.

Here is another option for you , the Pantone Matching systems
Pantone 1205C is a good match for the cream colour
Pantone 1235C is a good match for the Yellow colour

Oz, it doesn't appear that Pantone makes the paint,
so what do you do with those numbers?

I can say that I used a single stage urethane paint from Summit Racing on my ~2004 model 2166. The "Wimbledon White" is a nice off white/beige color, and I think is a great match. When I get to painting the yellow parts, they have a single stage "Yellow" that looks close to a school bus yellow that I'm going to use.

The price is right for an acrylic urethane, but it's probably more expensive than what you will pay for the official rattle can. You're going to get a much more durable finish and you will get a LOT more paint for your money. Maybe you have other things you will want to paint? Also you'll be able to buff it super shiny if you want to, and if you lay at least a couple/few coats it will be thick enough to where you can buff out scratches in the future. It is after all, regular automotive paint.

I don't know if this worth anything to you because you may not be looking to paint entire panels, I was coming at it from the perspective of painting the entire tractor when I was selecting paint, and went through the same options...the Rustoleum, Majik, Valspar, PPG Shopline, etc.

Painting whole panels with a spray gun isn't that difficult if they are in good shape, that's what I would do so you wont have to worry about matching original or faded paint. Plenty of folks have sprayed decent paint jobs with the $20 HF gun and you wouldn't need a huge compressor to do it.

Looks like you have some rattle can colors already, just another option to think about.

The Pantone matching system is a book of literally thousands of colours in flat and gloss , each number represents a colour
It uses as the basis CMYK , White and Clear to match any colour you like
A reputable paint matching company worth their salt should possess a copy or use a scanner to colour match
I have noticed when watching some of the home renovation shows either American or Australian the experts (I use that word loosely) are wandering around with the Pantone book trying to assess what colours would be suitable
Please note I do not watch a lot of that
