Default Hello from NH!!!

I recently picked up a Cub Cadet 105 and a 1450 along with a 36" snow thrower attachment and a roto-tiller.

The 105 starts right up and runs quite well although it does need a new carburetor due to the worn throttle shaft.
I have a new carb on order along with parts to refresh the steering which is very loose (turns about 30 degrees before it does anything!)

The 1450 is not running right now, but, I was told the engine is in good shape.
We shall see?

The previous owner had planned to install the 14 hp Kohler and the electric lift from the 1450 on to the 105. I don't know if that is possible or worth the effort?
Any thoughts on that?

I am excited to get the 105 set up for winter snow removal!

Should be much more fun than a walk behind snow blower.

Chris

Welcome to OCC. The 14hp won't fit in the 105 without modification to the frame, the 1450 never had electric lift so I assume you mean hydraulic lift and once again it won't fit on the 105 without a good amount of modification. Your best bet will be to get both of them running and put the thrower on one and the tiller on the other since both are a pain to take off and on, having multiple tractors for multiple attachments is common around here.

Hello! Nice to have you along as our newest member! The 105 and 1450 make for a great garden tractor. I'm leaning for the 1450 when it comes to snow removal. The hyd lift, front lights, larger engine, and rear tail lights are a few reasons that come to mind considering the 1450.

There are bushings for the throttle shaft on your 105, so don't scrap the old carb! It will also make a great tractor to clear snow. You'll want to look into a snow blade, sub frame, wheel weights, and tire chains for a excellent and efficient tractor.

Good luck, enjoy the many forums here at OCC!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
