Awesome looking Cubs guys!!

Clay,

Hold on to that tractor... the memories are priceless...

We have a 1948 with planters and cultivators.. dad enjoys gardening with it. I can't get over the little 4cyl engine.. it is so tiny but so quiet and smooth!

Charles,,
That is the sweetest most optioned cub I have ever seen! Glad it's still in the family!

Thanks for the compliments.

Sam, I have, been blessed. Some times its hard to get across to the young'ins where a little hard work and determination can get you. From what I've seen your not far behind me on the toys. I am getting very itchy for the new Mustang to arrive. I have the supercharger just sitting here waiting to go.

But guys Im amazed not one mention or question about being run over by the Cub.

I know one other guy that got run over by a tractor.. similar situation.. It just about killed him.. How long did it take you to recover? Do you remember much about it? It had to be very traumatizing. Surprised you wanted anything to do with that tractor afterward.

Jay, I was 7 when it happened. I don't remember the actual incident. I do remember not being able to breath and being in the hospital. My parents were at work so my brother went and got the neighbor lady who for whatever reason put me in a tub of cold water before they called the ambulance. I had tread marks on my chest until I was late teens and I had recurring dreams of being crushed for many years. The tractor has many many more good memories that out way the one. I am tearing up now as I write this. My father worked 2 and sometimes 3 jobs his whole life all for us kids. He never really had a lot of money for him self making sure we were all educated. He always said he was going to fix up that old tractor when he had some extra money. So in 1998 I restored the tractor and pimped it out with all the extras for fathers day. It was his pride and joy and he loved showing it to his friends and brothers. ( Sorry for getting sentimental )

I was at an auction one day, they were getting ready to sell a cub. The auctioneers helper hit the starter button and off it went right into the crowd. Talk about an exciting few moments. Mike

Looks great Charles. And zero hours on the clock! Awesome job. So are you referring to IH brand hand tools? Or the tools/attachments on the tractor itself?

Nice Farmall Cubs, guys! Makes me miss mine. The Farmall Cub was the first tractor, I ever bought. It was a 1950 model.

Alvy, The tach is NOS and fully functional I just left the drive gear out because the hours would not be correct. The tools were given out when you bought the tractor. It was a kit that consisted of pliers, grease gun and two sockets as well as a gauge to set the points and plugs. They are listed as an IH part but are not stamped like the bigger wrenches ect... They are not really good tools and really not used ( lost and thrown out ) as better tools were most likely used. I made the box.

I have a few; I guess they started my things for me as well. I started with a ’51 F-Cub, followed by a ’55 LoBoy, which I have redone both. I thought I was out of room in my garage, but figured an early, IH Cub Cadet would still fit… well over a dozen ago, I found out I was right. I currently live in a neighborhood and push mow my yard, recently we purchased some land and are in the process of building a house. So, logically I convinced myself I needed another Cub, so got a second ’55 LoBoy which I mowed all last summer with (yea, it's the ugly, wrong color one). I plan on using all of them now that I have an actual use for them!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
