Default Farmall Cub - do you have one?

I start this for anybody to post if they have a Farmall or International Cub. My Dad give me my first 1811. When he passed away in Feb. I got he's other tractors. I was going to sell most of them to fund fixing up things around the property. When I was given this picture to put up at the funeral. I decided I must keep this one. My dad and youngest grandson last fall.

Actually have 5 Farmall Cubs, the oldest 1948 and the newest 1961. Started messing with them prior to IH Cub Cadets, have 4 of them. Two of the Farmall Cubs were non-runners and all 4 of the Cadets were non-runners when I got them. They all run now. Have enjoyed them.

Here is my 1953 Cub. My father bought it new in 53. When I was a kid he used it to plant and cultivate 90,000 tomato plants. When I was 7 ,I was standing on the mower deck holding on to the hood when my brother popped the clutch causing me to fall off and the rear tire went right across my chest. I had a collapsed lung and broken collar bone. In 1998 I restored the tractor for my father for fathers day. Over the years I have acquired some cool items for it. A NOS tachometer, Spark arrestor, pre cleaner, tire inflator. I also have according to the IH museam one of if not the only complete set of tools that were given out with the tractors when new. They were willing to give whatever I wanted for it. Before Supers I did cubs at one time I had as many as 6.

I'm a CUB guy too; I have five in the collection and I use them to work. I enjoy collecting the various implements that were made for them, especially FAST HITCH implements.
The CUB CADETS came later.

Clay that's a nice looking late model Cub. Probably a lot better overall shape than most due to its age.

Never seen a pre cleaner on a Cub air filter, rarely see them on anything else. Whats the story of the spark arrestor? I can't ever recall seeing one on a tractor, just power units on balers and combines. Was the intended market for running inside of barns and poultry houses? I've seen maybe 2 tachs. You've definetly got it decked out with some options!

From what I was told at the Red power round up in 2007 when the cub was the featured tractor. Spark arrestors and pre cleaners were used more in the western US where the threat of field fires and dust were much more prevelant. I was told this by an IH whipty do. Don't know how true.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
