Do you have the correct bracket?
Is it the one that you have to remove the right foot rest to install?

Lew, here's a pic of the bracket. The manual says to remove the right footrest, to install the sub frame.

If you have the one with the hole on the bottom you have to take off the foot rest. But if you have the later one you'll have to cut of the little hook part of the lift plate to make it clear the foot rest.
Here's a picture of a web site . The correct one is on the right. The left one was modified(hooks cut off). You dont have to remove the foot rest to install the sub frame. It's definently easier with 2 people.

Mike, my bracket is like the right one. It doesn't have the hole in the bottom.

So someone cut the bracket because they didn't want to take off the foot rest. That is still OK but it might work loose because the ears are shorter. Still I think the subframe should fit between the bracket and frame. If not try to loosen the foot rest and mount the subframe then retighten the foot rest.

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate it!

On another note, we took the blade to the sand blaster in Fayetteville. Should have it back within a week.

Allen,

When I put my blade on my 73, it pushed the footrest out a little...that would explain the washers for spacing, which I didn't bother with. If your bracket has been cut to slip over, then just make sure your U bolt nuts are tight (maybe with lock washers) and you should still be alright. Can't wait to see your pics, but I'm guessing that you are even more excited to put it to work!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
