Gary, When you go to your parts store, tell them you need a B-51 belt. That part number is used by many belt manufactors(Gates, Napa, Dayco). A B51 belt has a Nominal Length of 51" and an Outer Circumfrence of 53.8".

John, thanks!!! good thing I didn't get one at TSC, would have got the wrong length.
I did get a 90 degree grease zerk at TSC and it worked great, just trying to get it threaded in there took an act of congress, but watching that old back grease ooze out was a nice sight!!

OK, just for giggles I tried to engage the PTO with the old belt...
DSCF0439.jpg Also, I've got a video uploaded to youtube, it's just a hand rotation of the bar after the belt broke.... it's amazing what a tube of lube will set free (not meaning to sound dirty ) it turns over real smooth..... www.youtube.com/gcbailey34 here's the exact link -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq86EZfOfmg

Yes.... I've found a Haban group on yahoo and there are Haban sickles from everything from the 'O' up to the SGTs!!! There's some cool pics too... So far I've found a 402, 402-A, D, E... which the D is for NF and E for WF, so I would say most later IH and MTD/CCC IH clones could use the 402-E.

Nice looking set up.
Will these work in the upright/raised position? I have a tall bank about 400 ft long that I have to weed eat, it would be nice to just drive along the bank and knock it down with one of these. Also, how long is the bar?

chip - it'll work all the way up to 90 deg. That was one of the "selling" features, to use it as a hedge trimmer. It will do a full range of something like 135 degrees, 90 straight up to 45 below level. The bar is 48"... It looks like the one for the SGTs has a 5 or 6 foot bar. That thing looks beefy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
