Here is all the parts. I was thankful the half shaft was not too worn and did not need replaced. Also, the thrust washers were in excellent condition, but still, I would have never tore down this truck with out parts at the ready. In this pic, you can see the stripped gear on the cardboard, and the new gear on the axle.

A few things you want to do, and equally important is what not to do.

First, install the big, weird thrust washer, then install the out put shaft. Next, install the slide fork, slide gear, and retraction spring. Now, install the half shaft with new gear and axle. What ever you do, don't over tighten the half shaft, and don't push that cv axle back it with too much force. You will bend and warp that weird thrust washer. I wondered why GM gives two of those in the kit. So the second go a round, I did not over tighten and was not scared if new gear oil would leak.... I had to get this figured out. After this, put on your cable lock spring.

So far, so good!

Anyone ever notice that to do a write up on any subject, that uploading from another site allows you to post pictures and give your written description under or above each picture? That's kinda why I like doing it this way unless I'm just posting pictures for eye candy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
