But, It's a Cub Cadet!
While looking for Cubs on Craigslist, people think that no matter what condition the tractor is in, if it says Cub Cadet they think they can ask ridiculous prices for them. Do you find that is true in your area?

Yep.
Another thing that gets me is they put "pulling tractor" in the ad thinking it will bring more money..... but they are selling a hydro tractor. |

John Deere's are even worse. I've seen some non running ones selling for more than I paid for my 147 and 149 combined.

That’s so true. You would think JD made 140 H3s out of gold and painted them green.

"Classic", "Hard to find", "Very rare" are just a few. And the never ending add. For Sale, "IH Cub Cadet", when it was clearly built way later than the IH tractors.
Then we get the tillers for sale, and gear box sold separately. https://appleton.craigslist.org/grd/...612025376.html

Tractors that I had an interest in have been $650-$750. You know you'll have to put at least another $650-$750 back in it to bring it up to par.
One said "it's been smoking a lot lately"! $$$!

There was a 122 on CL down here ad said completely restored, completely taken apart, cleaned, fixed, repainted before and after reassembly.
Like factory new. The pics showed that he did not even bother to tape off anything as he spray bombed the whole thing with the almost right colors. And he only had it listed at $2500 with no deck tractor only. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
