First, welcome to OCC....
The 1811 is the same thing as a 782 but with a Kohler M-18 Magnum Engine. YES....this is an excellent model. It was very popular in it's day. Like anything used, condition is everything. There are NO red flags on this model. Good luck....

Quite possibly you could argue this was the best Cadet ever made prior to the change over to the Cyclops series.. Not too big, not too small, plenty of power, reliable power plant, handles well. Like Roland said its used--so it may need some work, but what do you expect for a 30 year old machine.

thanks for the welcome.
that's good to know about this model. last year I looked at a later & bigger model & when I researched it everyone said DON"T BUY IT! I forget the model but apparantly it had some serious defects in the hydraulic system. . with 3 pt & a mower deck he's asking $750.00 firm. I've not seen it in the flesh yet but from the photos it looks used not abused. the paint looks gook, there's some decal damage, it needs a seat, & if they are not dry rotted the tires look ok. I already have a cat. 0 Brinley plow, disc, & harrow. I also have an Ingersoll 4016 with 3 pt. i'd like to use the Ingersoll for tilling & using the 54" front blade & use the cub for ground breaking & possibly pulling a rear drag blade if I can find one. i have a cub XT for mowing so i don't really need this mower deck. I understand the IH tillers are hard to come by. Cyclops series? |

My 1811 is a great machine. I just wish I had a 50" deck for it, although I probably still wouldn't mow with it much even if it had that. The 44C does a great job and it's a very fun machine to use, and look at.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
