Default 2186

Just picked up a 2186, and I'm having a time trying to date this thing. Sticker on the right hand frame rail lists serial number as 1F244G10058. I've tried searching here and on the web. I must be doing something wrong as I've had no luck.

Many thanks, Wayne

It was made between 2000 and 2003. Is the exact date important for some reason?

No particular reason, simply curiosity. Thing seems to run well,transmission appears to be good but service lacking ; both trans filter and oil filter dated 3/14. Air filter nearly plugged.

Many thanks for the help,
wayne

Well, Tractor Data shows they were built from 2000 to 2003 (as Jon said) but if you break down the Cub Cadet serial number here is what you get.

1 = engineering rev 1
F = June
24 = day of the month
4 = 2004
G = Brownsville, TN plant
1 = assembly line 1
00058 = 58th tractor of the day made on assembly line 1

What info is on the engine?

Can't find a data tag for the engine. It is a V-Twin, but no easily visible name tag as to make or model. Air cleaner cover is marked Cub Cadet.

I am hoping that is what is in there now, it does run well. rest of the tractor leads me to believe that the hour meter has not worked for some time; shows less than 400 hrs.

Many Thanks,Wayne

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
