Looks good so far.... that tunnel cover is gonna be sturdy! Be careful how high you go on that cover... the higher you go the harder it is to get off and on!

It is the rear section of the original 1450 frame. The previous owner ran it so long with the engine mounts wasted, the cradles had worn through the axle mount, the front half of the one I'm building was sourced from a fellow that had some frames I had spotted hiding in a shed when I picked up the severely tired 2072 frame.

Hey man, I dig the project. The first cub I loved was a 1450.
But, I don't think Jon was trying to bust your balls, I think he was meaning that sgts typically have more hydraulics, higher pressure, turning brakes, cat0 hitch, higher h.p, power steering and sometimes a rear pto. I think it was an "in addition to" statement.

I have only made 2 comments in this thread. NEITHER of them directed at you, your project, your design, or gave any opinion whatsoever on how "I think" it should be built. If I wanted to point something out, or have an opinion, believe me, you'll know. I think you owe me an apology. |

Just an update, getting closer to finishing hydraulic plumbing and tunnel mods. Kind of embarrassed about the mess, rather tinker than clean.

You call that a mess? I wish my workspace was that clean.

I'm liking it Mr jeep, lots of fab going on there. Care to enlighten us on the function of each of the 4 levers?

Sure. The far right will raise/lower the deck in normal fashion, that lever will also run to quick couplings up front, off a splitter that I fabbed up in place of the original spool valve on the steering column (see picture, not finished running lines to front yet), this will raise lower what ever is mounted up front with a cylinder mounted to the right side of tractor/sub frame when the deck is removed. (I had to remove the 1450 lift lug to have clearance for the left brake pedal). The lever to left of that will operate quick couplings on the left side front frame for power angle, power rotate for future use. Lever to the left of that one is for quick couplings in rear for tool operation as needed. And finally, the far left lever will operate the sleeve hitch I'm building there, so implements can be raised /lowered separately from mower deck if I chose to leave it on for a quick job.

Anddddddd, on a side note, I am TRULY impressed by those that can bend multiple runs of tubing and make it look and lay right! I have about equal amounts of scraps to users.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
