Though I have a couple of QL's, I must say that on looks alone, the 1X8/1X9 wins that battle..... IDK why, but I have always liked them better.... though I like the electric PTO clutch on the QL's, better than the 1X9 setup.

That's part of the reason behind getting the deck prepped. Once spring hits I won't have any time for my own machines.

I'll PM ya regarding the headlights!
Looks like the Quiet Line is receiving needed attention! Good stuff! I'm still at it working on my 1450.

I am in the process of repairing the seat with some foam and Plastic-Dip. It won't be pretty, but it will be functional, as is the case with most of the repairs I am doing with this tractor.

Replaced all the steering joints with the heavier duty ones from McMaster-Carr, which are also greasable. Replaced the hydro control joints as well.

Fabricated a front grille screen.

Pulled out the deck and started to weld in patch plates for the weak areas and get it ready for some POR-15 on the underside. Replaced worn spindle bearings. I noticed that this deck has the smaller main drive pulley!

Been using the dozer blade quite a bit lately. The driveway needs a lot of attention, so I started putting the 1250 to work. Hydraulic lift is handy for a lot of things!

I'm looking for a rear lift and sleeve hitch adapter. Daughter is doing gardening this year for 4H and it's time I get a moldboard plow

Are those Heim joints you used? When I got my 1650 a year or two ago, I simply hammered the steering joints on an anvil to take the slop up a little. But I'd like to replace with Heim joints. What part number(s) did you use?
Thanks,
Andy

They are heim-style joints with a pressed in stud. The length of each joint from stud center is a little more than the stock joints, but I found that there was enough adjustment at every linkage to accommodate.

Keep at it John! Yours will look much better than mine when you're done.

Some upgrades in prep for the season:

Bosch epoxy coil!

Also reworked the mule drive, repaired areas of the shaft that had worn out, repaired pivot points and other areas where 40 years of use had taken it's toll, and added a greaseway between the tensioner and idler.

Nice job on the 1250; like reading all the updates. I'm working on my own 1250 right now, Gettin' the old girl saddled up for mowing and gardening season. These QL's look great and work even better IMO. (Might be a tad bit biased because it was my first cub cadet.)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
