Cub model 1030, deck pulley modification
Looking for feedback. I'm the new owner of 1030 rider that is in good shape other than this: the pto drive deck belt is just a tad loose and will lose drive power to the blade under load. Sometimes no problem, other times stops driving the blade.
It seems that tightening the belt up in some fashion will resolve (instead of a shorter belt which would cause other problems). Would adding a tension pulley be doable? Anyone tried this or corrected the slightly loose belt problem otherwise?

When I bought my 1030, it had sat for quite while and the belts had dried out. I used some belt dressing and now they grab fine.
Might be that the PO had put on the wrong length belt? Beyond that, might also ensure that when the mower drive lever is released to engage the mower, the deck is free and able to travel the distance required to fully tighten the belt. I'm sure a tension pulley could be added, but it would likely be less work and future headaches to track down the actual cause of the problem- S-D
