Default Nutz & Boltz... Are you organized?

I spent a while separating the numerous bags I've bought at TSC over the last few years. I used 3 containers each for 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8" nuts, bolts, and washers. Each size container's stack on top of each other. They are in bins 9, 10, and 11. A few other containers for metric and fine thread and carriage bolts. All the rusty stuff has been there since I can remember. My grandfather used to go to a lot of auctions.

Yep, cause we have so much JUNK in the shop we would never find anything if we weren't. Put in a real bolt bin when the shop was built back in the early
80's. Stock from 1/4 up to 3/4 bolts. There are a few 7/8 and 1" all piled in a couple bins. Fine thread and carriage bolts take up a couple more. The conventional bolts are separated in 1/2 or 1" increments with a few odd ball
1/4" lengths mixed in. Stove bolts, Allen cap, set screws, locknuts, sheet metal and wood screws all have places in those bins with the small plastic removeable drawers. Keep wire ends, pipe ferrules and fittings, chain links, etc there as well. Even have a couple drawers with grease fittings and battery clamp bolts. Its wrenches and the parts we just carried to the shop 2 days ago that we lose.

Cool deal, John!

I don't have enough room or time to separate by length at the moment. It's still a work in progress. I spend more time looking for the wrench that was in my hand 5 seconds ago than a specific length bolt.

Next time I stock up at TSC I will be using more bags so I don't have to do the sorting at home.

BTW the self service bin came from the hardware store in Manassas my Mom used to work at. I would venture a guess, it was from the 50's. I think it was used for plumbing fittings. J.E. Rice was founded in 1937 and is still in business on the 3rd generation.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
