Anyone have Dealer Pricing Info?
Anyone have new pricing for CC tractors? I was wondering what the two models I have (1000, 1450) cost new.

DWayne, When was that published? I'm assuming several years after they were new, say '80's?

I think it was published around 2003 or 2004 due to the fact I can get the MSRP prices all the way up to 2003 but only goes back to 1977.

That would explain the looooow trade-in values.
BTW why did the weight of a 1450 go down 105 pounds from 1977 to 1978? Now that I look at it they all went down. Why? |

I grew up in Illinois during this time and remember that my dad bought a Chevy 1/2 ton pickup 2WD for $5000 in 1978 and a 2 door Chrysler for $7000 in 1979. A 1650 without a deck was more than 1/2 what he paid for the truck.
I just went on Chevy's web site and built the 2014 equivalent of my dad's 1978 truck for fun. Basically it was a stripped-down work truck - the lowest priced options. It came out to $24,400. If garden tractors rose in price as fast a comparable model in price to my 1450 would be $12k. Ouch. My dad bought a 108 brand new in 1974. IH had a promotion that if you bought the tractor they threw in the deck for $1. I always thought about that and wondered why they made this offer. I think they were clearing out the 1x8/9 series because the Quietline series was coming. He bought at the right time. Another observation is the trade-in prices. Ouch. Your $2900 1650 got you $230 - $430 when you traded it in. Now I see why you guys hang on to these tractors so long. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
