OK now if you decide to go for a Kohler CH it is also all factory bolt in. You'll need a CH18-22+ hp, you'll need a motor plate, engine spacers, muffler, heat shield, battery tray, fire wall and a drive shaft from a 2084 or a 2284. This was an 1882 that pitched a rod so I repowered it with a CH22 all factory parts.

You should be able to get good used parts from Patton Acres, & Cub Classics.

One last set of pics. 1st is a D640 out of a 1782 2nd is a WG600 out of a 2182. Motor mount is off the WG600 but it is the same as the one for the D640

The replacement motor is a WG600 B. One of the main difference distance between the 2 engines is the crank to water pump distance. The fan on the water pump hits the crank shaft pulley with the WG600 B.

Is the Kohler engine a magneto or a battery ignition system?
The 2182 is battery ignition. May have to rewire the 2182 to run the Kohler engine.

Patton Acres is too far away to drive. Doubt Cub Classics has the parts. I want to hear engine run before I buy another used engine.

Post a pic of the WG600B. I want to see the water pump. My guess is that you can swap water pumps.

The CH is a mag ignition. You'll need to do some wiring.

I'm moving this thread to the CCC/MTD section it has gone way past a wanted ad.

Converting the wiring from the 12v ignition on the Kubota engine to mag ignition on a CH could be done with a relay. Myself and others have done this when installing a Mag 18 or 20 engine in 782, 982, etc.

Sounds like the tractor is worth saving as its loaded up with nice options.

I love way the WG600 runs. So smooth and quiet.

I know that, I've owned two 2182's, a1782, a 1572 and a 1772. Let me make this easy. Put the 2 engines side by side and swap what ever you need to in order to make it work.

I'm not messing with a running engine. There are other things that don't look to be the same. The front engine cover is one of them.

Cub Cadet made an odd ball tractor when they design the 2182.
