Default Winter Project 126

Hi Guys. Here's my (new) 126 that was given to me by my neighbor. I plan to work on it over the winter and probably paint it in the spring. The paint is very rough and will need to be stripped. I'll also take the engine apart and have a machine shop measure it and do what is necessary for a rebuild. These are the (before) pictures.

Ole one eye looks good for a refurb. Already got a hitch and a plow bracket. Congrats. Mike

Looks like a good candidate for a refresh. Please keep us updated on the progress.

Default Refresh

Yes, it certainly needs a refresh. It's been sitting in his barn for about 15 years along with a 108 that's in sad shape. He's giving me that one also but I don't have a place to put it right now. But I'll be working on the 126 (slowly) over the winter and I will post progress pictures.

Default Fun Project

It would be a lot more fun if I had a media blaster. I may have to make one. Sanding is not my favorite task.

Default Progress on the 126

Here are some pictures of the progress I'm making on the 126. I'm taking my time on this one because I want it to look show room fresh. I haven't started on the frame or the axle yet. I found the marble inside the frame rail. I'm guessing the P.O lost his marbles at some point.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
