Default Hello From PA

Hi All,

Picked up a new to me Cub Cadet 1282. Very excited to restore it this winter when I have some more time. Also the happy owner of an XT1 LT46. I look forward to using this forum for my cub cadet fever. Anyone else from northwestern PA?

Thumbs up

Fine pick up on the Cub Cadet Corporation ( red paint for IH dealers only ) model 1282! It's twin brother would be the yellow and white CCC model 680, both of which had the Kohler K301AQS power plant. Up until serial # 719,999 , all still retained the cast iron transmission housings. This model 1282 would have still been fully serviceable at the local IH dealerships back then.

Thank you all for the replies. I actually live in Erie myself. I love seeing the pictures of your machines all cleaned up and still working them as hard as they were worked many years ago. I can't wait to start a collection of my own!

Greetings from central PA. I have personally met a number of collectors from up that way. Sad to say most of them are not too active on here at the moment.

Nice 1282! I am also a proud 1282 owner, but mine needs a rebuild.
Not far from you at all, just south of Meadville.
I like these red cubs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
