It won't weaken the case.
Not sure what you mean "how do I drill"? With a drill bit.... where you put the white mark... It will be fine there, if what your worried about is the "ledge" at the bottom. Just put the hole as close to the bottom as you can. |

Ok new question. How do all of you torque the countershaft to 85 ft lbs. And please don't say read the manual, because its relay vague. Its page 2-33 in the service manual. Here are some pic.
100_1136.jpg 100_1137.jpg 100_1138.jpg At this point I need to torque the countershaft to 85 ft lbs before I do the capscrews. So do I put something in the gears as a block? |

You can put something in the gesrs, like a piece of wood block. Or, install the top shaft, then put it in two gears at the same time.

Hello all
J-Mech everything is looking good but I would like you opinion. I have a little binding issues all is free to it comes to a certain point. At that point of binding I have no backlash. Here are some pic of the teeth meshing,I put the Prussian Blue on the pinion gear not the ring. 100_1143.jpg 100_1146.jpg |

I would decrease backlash by moving the gear away from the pinion, then check it again. Set backlash at the tightest spot, using the tight end of the spec. Might need to push the pinion in a little farther (thicker shim) after you increase backlash.
I always use a chart like this when I do it because it takes the guessing out of what you need to move in order to get the contact right. I only used to do about 3 or 4 a year, so I could never remember. Click on the pic to get a larger one: r and p.jpg |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
