Default New member in KY, need help

I have a 2004 LT2180. The PTO drive belt keeps coming off and usually destroying the belt, where the double pulley bolts. It was bent and cracked ,so I fixed that, and its still coming off. , I did notice quite a bit of vibration, thanks for any help. God bless

Post some pics of the double pulley. Make sure the spindles turn nice and free and that the springs that tension the belts are in good condition and that the arms that they pulleys bolt to are free to move. Also check the 2 pulleys under the engine where the belt makes a 90 degree turn to see if they spin freely with no bad sounds. Most of the belt problems on 2180's are from rusted pulley mounts that can't move. My BIL has one and he is trying to beat it to death. He just managed to strip the pinion gear on the steering so I expect to see it show up in the next day or so.

If you have a vibration and/or the belt is jumping, check the pulley grooves for a piece of wood or debris lodged in the bottom of the v pulley.

every thing is moving freely, with no bad sounds, recently got the PTO drive belt 1'st and 2'nd belt from the auto parts store and the belts keep twisting, and seems to have alot of harsh vibration in the belt to.on the steering had a similar prob the bushing went bad leading to no steering.. going to try to get a belt from cub and see how it does ,i noticed a few days ago the double was down bent down a little, so i pulled the deck and found a crack in the deck, i welded the crack and welded a washer on to beef it up now the pulleys are level,i dont no what to try next?? ill get some pics soon ,thanks for the help guys,, godbless

Some belts are constructed to go up/down/around and some belts are constructed to just wrap pulleys in a single plane. You usually can't interchange the former for the latter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
