Doug,
Should be a nice project starting on a complete tiller. Sheet metal looks good no rust holes or deep pitting that I can see.
You have both extensions the belt guard the center tooth.
Have to ask, does it spin? And how far are you going to go into the cases?
You and Curtis are running neck and neck

Great shots of the safety sticker and international and cadet decals with dimensions. I am going to try to get these made. If I do you will be the first to know. Would you mind if I used those pictures?
I think the ID tag on mine is a different size and shape. Maybe signifying a change at the Cub plant??
Did you have the clip that holds up the flap?

I think it is very interesting to see the different look to the exterior of your #1 compared to mine. Yours has a "all rust" patina. Mine had these big blotches of rust with paint still on in some other spots. Do you think that his is due to the locations where these tillers hung out for their life. Or due to different paint and metal prep?
My decals were almost gone yours still look very good.
Thanks again for posting the good shots.
Looks like your "into" it already too.
I will be watching.
Regards,
Chris

I was just about to ask what this is..... lol

I think this one spent most its life on a wood barn floor covered up.
the bolts are coming off good. the set screws come right out. the pins in the tines will need the blue tip wrench to get them off. the pins will not move. 4lb hammer and bent the pins.

Doug,
Thanks for the great shot of the clip. I may have to make a new one someday that is closer to this shape.
Yes the tine tubes fit tight from the factory and rusted themselves together real well! The blue tip will make things happen.
Now don't get carried away and scratch that nice looking Camaro
Regards,
Chris

Could you get the dimensions on the threaded rod and the adjustment handle?

I went "mickey mouse" on mine.

A ground 1/2-13 wing nut, a piece of 1/2-13 allthread welded to a piece of pipe with a bicycle seat mount to secure it to the chain

Doug,
Sorry Ford guy over on this side of the fence. So I probably wasn't paying attention well when you were saying you clear coated it. Hey I was at least in the GM area!
Thanks for the info on the red coating "glyptal". I did not know what that was. I had seen it in the rear ends I guess. Any special application techniques? I will try to look at the link you posted.
Regards,
Chris

the glyptal must go on a clean greese free area. NO oils at all. and on the inside of the tiller case , its smooth metal. so it'll need glass beaded, so the glyptal willd stick to it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
