Todd, my wife and I will be praying for Gunner and I hope that all goes well on Wednesday. We are dog lovers also so I know how close they get to our hearts. Keep us posted and good luck!

Sorry to hear about your beloved family member. But when it's time don't let him suffer, give him the dignity he deserves.

All the pets we had are more than just pets. They all became our beloved members of our family. Our last beloved Akita was the hardest to deal with. There was an air about her that made her special above all others. That was 4 years ago that we sent her to the 'Rainbow Bridge,' & the hardest thing I ever had to do. My wife still cry's to this day if we ever talk about her. We vowed never ever to get another dog, it was to hard for us to let go. So after 2 years we toyed with the idea to have the void in our hearts filled. We adopted a new dog (Giant Schauzer) from a rescue org., then 11 months ago we saved another one (Australian Cattle dog) from Southern Michigan.

The JOY these new family members now fill the VOID in our hearts.

Nik,

Todd, (Bro)
Our thoughts are with Gunner and you in this though time. I had to put a very good dog down years ago and it was a though thing to have done. Our last dog, Sandy, a golden, was with us for 11 years. I was brushing her and found a big lump on her leg. Like Gunner it was a fast spreading tumor. I chose to not operate because I was afraid she would suffer more as three legged old dog. Several months later she died. It was on my birthday Jan 3rd. That was three years ago. She was never a great squirrel dog but loved to go hunting! On her first and last hunts we killed a big fox squirrel! The last time we hunted together she treed a squirrel, barked up and waited till I got there, then she pointed it out too me! I think she wanted me to know she really just liked going hunting with me, but really knew I wanted her to be a squirrel dog. She was a very good friend and was with me just about all the time. Gunner reminds me a lot of her too. I hope that the next few weeks are good for you, your family and Gunner.
On my bucket list, that I have posted at work, is a squirrel dog. I haven't pulled the trigger on that new pup yet. It takes time to heal.
Regards,
Chris

Well I dropped the ol' boy off at the vet this morning to have the lumps removed, it was growing so fast that if I did nothing, the time was going to come sooner than later.
Waiting for the call to pick him up. I just don't want something to happen aroung Christmas or the New Year, then every year you have that reminder.
I know it's only a short term fix, but I felt it's better than me doing nothing at all. He's not much of a hunting dog either, more of a buddy than anything. He does like hunting tree rats, and fishing, but that's about it. He would stand in the water up to his belly and watch the little fish swim by and try to grab one, not alot of luck though, oh yah, he's a great gopher dog. Sits over the hole and waits for me to dump the water, and when they come out of their hole he grabs em'.
Good times

Got the ol' boy home. I think we bought him a little more time. The vet took out the lumps but the cancer is in his jaw too, and we ain't doing anymore.
So now it's a wait and see thing, but he should make it awhile longer, we hope.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers, we need them

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
